Paris, France - September 19, 2023 - Kylian Mbappe was in top form as Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) kicked off their UEFA Champions League campaign with a 2-0 home victory over Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday. The French champions controlled the match from start to finish, with Mbappe scoring both goals in the first half.
Dortmund, who finished second in the Bundesliga last season, were second best throughout the match and rarely threatened the PSG goal. The German side did have a few chances to level the scores in the second half, but they failed to make the most of them.
The result leaves PSG top of Group H with three points, while Dortmund are in second place with one point. The two teams will meet again in the reverse fixture in Germany on October 25.
In the other Group H match, Juventus beat Maccabi Haifa 3-1 away from home. The Italian champions are now second in the group with three points, while Maccabi Haifa are bottom with zero points.
The top two teams in each group will advance to the knockout stage of the Champions League.
